Step by step guide on how to make chicken fries at home from scratch.
You will need the following
Food processor or blender
2 large eggs
Seasoning of your choice (I used paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder)
Cut the chicken breast into small 1-2 inch cubes. Let them rest in the freezer for 30 to 45 minutes. They should be semi-frozen
Out of the freezer, you may now put them in the food processor or blender with seasoning of your choice then process the meat into ground chicken.
Transfer the ground chicken into the zip bag. At the bottom corner of the bag cut a small hole to enable you to squeeze the ground chicken from that small opening. Do this on a mini tray with a baking sheet on it. Make your fries as thin or thick as you want but don’t make them too long as they might not fit in the air fryer basket. When this is done then put them in the freezer for an hour to two to freeze. You will work better when they are frozen.
Please don’t line them up close to one another to avoid them sticking together
In a bowl, beat two eggs then put the frozen chicken fries in the egg wash. You may want to do this one by one
From the egg wash coat the fries with breadcrumbs. There you have your homemade chicken fries. You may air fry them following the recipe card below or you can deep fry them. You can also freeze some to cook next time. You may want to put them back into the freeze separated from one another before you put them in a zip bag then freeze for 2 to 3 months.
You can cook them for 10 to 12 minutes. This will also depend on the thickness of your frozen chicken fries.
There is NO need to thaw, they cook very well frozen in the air fryer.
Air-fried chicken fries have 245 calories which are lower than the deep-frying method of about 460 kcal per serving.
Quick recipe summary and notes
No need to thaw the fries.
You may need to add more time to the one suggested in this recipe to make them to the level of your preference.
It is not necessary to spray with oil but you may do so if you wish.
