Step by step guide on how to prepare and cook the chicken quarter legs.
Clean your chicken and get it ready to be cooked while you are doing this you may want to preheat your air fryer at 200C for 3 to 5 minutes.
Bring your butter to room temperature then rub the chicken quarter legs with the butter. This will give the skin an extra boost with crispiness.
Mix your seasoning spices in one bowl then either toss the chicken in the bowl or you can just sprinkle the seasoning onto the chicken. Use your fingers to ensure that the chicken is nicely covered with spices.
Place the chicken quarters into the air fryer basket then cook at 200C for 35 to 40 minutes. Please flip the quarter legs around halfway through the cooking time.
Let it chill for 5 minutes then serve while still warm.
No. There is no need for that. If you are worried that it might still be raw on the inside after the cooking time then I suggest you use the meat thermometer to measure the temperature of the thickest part of the piece. It should be between 165 degrees to 175 degrees then it is safe to eat.
It took 35 minutes for this recipe, cooked it for 20 minutes then flipped it around and cooked the other side for 15 minutes at 200C. This however may differ depending on the air fryer as they are not all the same in terms of power. So we looking at 30 to 40 minutes max.
This is optional really. If you are able to brine ahead of time you may do so however they will still taste as great if you just go straight to cooking them.
I have never tested this recipe on a convection oven before however, the air fryer and convection oven are similar. The little difference is the other one has more space and circulates air from the top and bottom of it. While the air fryer the air comes only from the top. You can obtain the same great taste using the convection oven but cooking times may differ.
In a normal oven, chickens take 1.5 times as long to thaw. I think using frozen chicken might result in the outside being burnt while still raw on the inside. It is however possible to cook it frozen if you try to follow this method.
Yes definitely. This recipe does not have breading but you can use it in other recipes
They are so delicious I doubt if you will have any leftovers. If you do have you can just pop them into an airtight container or zip bag. It will stay in the fridge for up to 4 days and in the freezer for up to a month or two. Don’t push it longer than that.
You can reheat them in a microwave 2 to 3 minute then 3 to 5 minutes in an air fryer.

Recipe notes and tips
Please ensure that you flip around the chicken halfway through the cooking time so that it cooks evenly on both sides and to avoid one side being burnt.
You can substitute the butter for olive oil or nothing at all as the skin has sufficient fat.
You may add other seasonings of your choice.
